October 2005 Archives

Events at work and home caught up in such a way that I haven't posted for over a month. The shame. The horror! But I'm not letting go. There's too much of importance going on in the world - like:

  • A seriously dysfunctional closeted homosexual pope introducing a rule to ban gay men from seminary, while taking no action to investigate, identify and remove pedophile priests, or the bishops who as a result of their own moral failures continue to shelter them;
  • Anglican archbishops once more elevating ecclesiastical unity to a level higher than the cause of Christ;
  • GLBT Christians opening their wallets, hearts and homes to refugees from Katrina and Rita (regardless of sexual orientation);
  • I married my partner Aaron on October 7th in a beautiful ceremony at our church in Minneapolis; all I can say right now is that our marriage means an awful lot to us even if it means nothing to Bush and Rove.

And right now I'm in the UK on a business trip. Managed to catch a glipse of 'England's green and pleasant land' as I winged in to Manchester this afternoon on my (comfortably upgraded) flight from Amsterdam. Gotta love fog, damp and hedgerows! Note to self: learning to cheerfully endure an overbooked transatlantic flight with obnoxious fellow passengers continually elbowing you and your seat, lukewarm food low in nutrients but rich in e. coli, and not to mention loooong waits for the rest room when said food begins to have the desired effect... may, in itself, be a Christian vocation worthy of at least minor beatification. But I digress...
